Remove Video Backgrounds with AI

Upload MP4, MOV or WebM files up to 500MB. The clip must have a readable duration. If your browser cannot preview or read a file, try a supported encoding or another export of the source video.

Clips can be up to 10 minutes long. Billing uses the input duration rounded up to the next whole second, with a 3-second minimum. Start with a short sample if you want to check quality first.

Yes. Open the tool in a mobile browser, choose a video from your device and sign in to process it. No separate app is required. Large uploads need a stable connection, and playback support depends on the output codec and your device.

Transparency needs an alpha channel. Standard H.264 MP4 exports flatten the image, while alpha-capable WebM codecs and MOV with ProRes 4444 can preserve it. The tool keeps the provider’s returned format; it does not offer a choice between WebM and MOV. Check the result in a compatible editor before converting.

Some default Windows players do not support that codec. Try VLC for playback or import the file into a compatible editor such as Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or After Effects. Check it over a colored layer to verify alpha. ProRes 4444 is an editing format, not a guaranteed output of this tool.

Yes. AI detects the foreground subject in ordinary footage, so you do not need a green backdrop. Good lighting, a visible subject and clear separation from the surroundings improve the starting conditions.

The model uses edge-aware matting to separate the subject. Results vary with lighting, motion and contrast; loose hair, overlapping fingers and similar foreground and background colors can be difficult. Preview the full result and test a short clip before processing more footage.

Processing depends on clip length and provider load. The workspace gives an estimate rather than a fixed completion promise. A task can remain queued before processing starts; using welcome credits does not guarantee immediate processing.

Reference media and results stay associated with your account history until you delete the task or account, as described in the privacy policy. Your clip is sent to WaveSpeed for processing, and its retention and data-use terms also apply. Review both policies for storage and training details.

The processed result has no added platform watermark. Sign-in is required for processing. New accounts receive 10 welcome credits by default, enough for one clip up to 3 seconds at the 9-credit minimum. Check your available balance before starting.

Commercial use is subject to the service terms and the processing provider’s usage policy. You must have the necessary rights to the video and any people, music or other content in it. Removing a background does not grant rights to material you do not own.

Download the original result and check whether your editor supports its codec and alpha channel. In Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or After Effects, place it above another layer and inspect transparency. In CapCut, test it as an overlay because format support varies by version and device. If needed, convert in a compatible editor to a format that preserves alpha; renaming the extension does not convert it.
