Expressive Mixed Media Woman Portrait

A highly emotional, expressive portrait in the style of Guy Denning. It depicts a young woman—perhaps of Indian origin—lying on her stomach in profile; she has very dark, wavy hair covered by a gold-and-red cloth. She has large, expressive eyes—looking worried and exhausted—and rests one hand beneath her chin. Created using mixed media on coarse canvas, the work is defined by bold palette-knife application (impasto) combined with charcoal drawing and floral fragments in the background. It features incised marks and dramatic paint splatters. The color palette contrasts deep, earthy shadows with cold, pale blue-gray tones and luminous, warm accents on the face. The result is an atmosphere that is warm, melancholic, and deeply human.
